In honor of BDR's slightly suboptimal idea for a new blogtheme:
In and around the lake
varmints fall out of the sky
and they stand there
That's one of my favorite lyrical confusions of all time, right up there with "'Scuse me, while I kiss this guy" and "Big old jet had a light on."
Have at it.

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of man
"Whoa Nipsey Russell"?
My favorite needs some setup - it was when the Dixie Chicks Home CD came out - the first single was Long Time Gone. I was searching online for the lyrics before the CD came out, cause I really liked the song. The only lyrics I could find were those transcribed by people who listened to the song, and one of those people heard the lyric
Looking out on a vacant field
as
Looking out on a bacon field
Ah, yes. The bacon fields. Farmers planting a fine crop of bacon, watching it grow, harvesting it. Sweet memories of childhood for me.
A grad student from Singapore who worked in my lab one summer used to sing Secret Asian Man all the time while he was doing his scut work.
He was an ethnic Chinese so we just let him have his version for the longest time. Someone finally corrected him and he was so embarrased. He stopped singing.
I'm real fond of "Sunday Monkey won't play piano song, play piano song."
As for you, BdR, I thought They were dead to you.
Well, when I go to the beach in my brand new cadillac with my porceline butter kitten, you gotta tell me why the brain that refused to die put a bullet through the jukebox.
Didn't we stop doing drugs a while back?
Yes, but do you still have Slickees vinyl? (Not to mention that M&M *This Is the Ice Age*?) Gots to get that burned to disc.
I drove by the corpse of the pdelly this morning on the way to work - be glad I didn't resort to Insect Surfer allusions.
Up Periscope!
Yes, I have all the vinyl. I also found some M&M on CD. We'll get it written to your Ipod.
Good finds!
I had a friend who used to sing,
Hit Me With Your Best Shot
as
Hit me with affection
